Junior PBA seminar/workshop – Bringing and defending possession claims by banks and receivers: the basics
Venue
Maitland Chambers, 7 Stone Buildings, London, WC2A 3SZ and on Zoom
Time
6-7pm followed by drinks and nibbles
Members of the PBA of ten years call and below and also interested pupils are invited to attend this seminar hosted by Cecily Crampin (Falcon Chambers) and Sam Madge-Wyld (Tanfield Chambers).
The seminar will be a practical introduction to mortgage possession claims by banks and receivers. It will cover the common pitfalls for those representing claimants and defendants by considering the powers of receivers to bring claims for possession, the statutory regulation of residential mortgages under Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, common defences and the power of the courts to stay orders for possession to enable defaulting borrowers more time to pay.
The seminar will use a case study to explore each topic and there will be opportunities to ask questions and discuss the issues throughout.
It will be followed by drinks.
Members please register here and pupils should email enquiries@propertybar.org.uk to register.
You will be asked to indicate whether you would like to attend in person or by Zoom.
